vision vs sight
Vision is Foundational
Many people know and correlate good vision with the ability to see 20/20 detail.
There IS a difference between sight and vision!
Understanding the distinction between the two is very important; it helps to explain the significance
and the value of the care provided at Thrive Vision Therapy.
Why Vision Is Only One Part of the Puzzle
Your brain relies on more than just eyesight to help you navigate the world. Vision, balance, and body awareness work together to keep you stable, focused, and alert. At Thrive Vision Therapy, we assess and integrate all three – because true wellness starts with how your brain processes and uses input from your entire body.
Vision
Helps us make sense of what we see and supports how we move, focus, and learn. It depends on how well the eyes work together and how the brain processes visual information in everyday situations.
Vestibular
Controls balance and spatial awareness through your inner ear.
Somatosensory
Tells your brain where your body is and how it’s moving through space through a general sense of touch and pressure, and sometimes, pain.

Common concussion symptoms can be:
Evaluation Snapshot
At Thrive Vision Therapy, we go beyond a standard eye exam to understand how your brain and body process visual information. Our evaluation is designed to uncover hidden challenges affecting movement, focus, balance, and daily function.
Visual Efficiency
We measure how well your eyes focus, track, and work together—including eye movements, flexibility, and coordination.
Functional Visual Field
This shows how much of the visual input your brain is actually processing—not just what your eyes can see.
Primitive Reflex Testing
We check for early childhood reflexes that may still be active and interfering with visual or motor development and performance.
Visual-Vestibular-Somatosensory Integration
We assess how your brain blends vision, balance, and body awareness—and where it may be compensating.
Visual Memory & Timing
We evaluate how well your brain remembers and reacts to visual input, which impacts learning, coordination, and attention.
Personalized Vision Therapy That Works
Our brain-based therapy program helps you or your child improve focus, balance, and everyday function. With a personalized plan and weekly guidance, we treat the root—not just the symptoms.
Is This Right For Me?
If you’re struggling with reading, balance, memory, or focus – and regular eye exams haven’t revealed the problem – you’re not alone. Our approach helps uncover and treat the underlying issues that traditional exams can miss.

I’m passionate about the brain and about what can be done when it doesn’t function efficiently. It’s time to challenge the narrative that overlooks the connection between brain injury and vision.
Too many individuals have unnecessarily endured years of struggle without ever being informed that their visual system could be affected.
I am committed to raising public awareness and reshaping the understanding of vision itself and how it affects every aspect of our quality of life.
